Special Events

On top of regular monthly membership meetings, our NAWIC chapter often hosts meetings or activities for special events. The first being Women in Construction (WIC) Week. The focus of WIC Week is to highlight women as a viable component of the construction industry. WIC Week also provides an occasion for NAWIC’s thousands of members across the country to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in the construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry. It is also a time for local chapters to give back to their communities.Beyond WIC Week, our chapter also hosts special events for our chapter anniversary, heart health month, and the holidays.

Heart Health Luncheon – February

Annual luncheon hosted in February to educate members on the importance of heart health and risk factors specific to women in partnership with the American Heart Association. Facilitate meeting. Venue, food, speakers, activities, logistics, decorations, swag. Speaker gifts, recognize sponsors.

Women In Construction Week (WIC Week) – First full week of March

Participate in National Women in Construction Week. Share ideas and best practices, encourage participation from Chapters, providing to raise awareness of the opportunities available for women in construction industry and to emphasize the growing role of women in the industry. Local chapter members participate in several activities during the week in March including jobsite tours professional speakers, networking events, webinars, and volunteer activities. The committee is comprised of the National Chair, Co-Chair, Regional WIC Week Chairs and chapter(s) level.

Help plan events for the week, aim to have an event every day.
Venue, food, speakers, activities, logistics, decorations, swag, insurance, safety gear if needed. Speaker gifts, Ways and means or raffles (sponsorship), recognize sponsors.
Work with board and members-each activity of the week to have their own committee.
Budget-aim to make events free to all women-if sponsorships allow.

Summer BBQ – Anytime June-August

Installation and Awards Ceremony – September

Work with current President and incoming President. New President selects new chapter theme and ceremony presentation. Venue, food, decorations.
Program: Welcome, Dinner, Presentation of awards (Legacy, Project Excellence, Safety). Outgoing President speaks, Installation Ceremony, Incoming President speaks-introduction to new theme and goals.
Work with Technology on criteria for awards, getting applications out early and award winners.
